Structural Health Monitoring of a Brazilian Concrete Bridge for Estimating Specific Dynamic Responses

A 3D coupled model to simulate vehicle–bridge interactions (VBI) estimate its structural responses and impact factors (IMs) was developed in this study. By health monitoring (SHM) of a real concrete bridge, several data were collected calibrate the bridge by finite element method (FEM). These models provide response terms vertical displacements accelerations. VBI reliable outputs without significantly altering dynamic properties bridge. Modified recent analytical equations, which account for effects asymmetric two-axle vehicles, numerically. plus some proposed solutions, also quantified vehicle accelerations more conservative driving comfort. The goal consisted fitting SHM with numerical find appropriate safety purposes maintenance. From codes literature, it shown that unique IM factor not found. Moreover, most approaches underestimate phenomena; fact, results show monitored is 2.5 greater than from codes. Proposed equations provided values up about three times standard comfort value.
